Miaka Yuki is a third-year middle school student preparing for high school entrance exams. Hoping to live up to the expectations of her mother, who raised her on her own, she spends her days studying hard for admission to the highly competitive Jonan Academy. One day, while studying at the library with her best friend Yui, Miaka discovers an ancient book called The Universe of the Four Gods. Legend says that anyone who finishes reading the book will gain the power of Suzaku and have their wishes granted. The moment the two girls open the book, they are pulled into its world. After narrowly escaping danger with the help of a young man named Tamahome, who bears the character "oni" on his forehead, they somehow manage to return to their own world. Yet neither of them can stop thinking about the mysterious book...
